So much rain we can barely contain the green 💚
Fire and water
We finally got around to burning the great big pile of rubbish in the yard last weekend 🥵.
And then this weekend we’ve been blessed by Huey

Winter Woofties
Midsummer 2022
Just some pics to show progress on the homestead
The shed is still a mess but I have a nice new work bench
Spring 2022 - Garden beds and etc
We’re both feeling sore and tired having spent the past 4 days gardening hard in Nothampton.
Now equiped with my mini-tractor and trailer we have one good size garden bed with irrigation ready for summer.
Cooking on an open fire
Enjoying a winter evening
Northampton - Winter 2022
Early days, first photos for the record. We plan to get photos from the same angles every summer and winter.

Miscellaneous Projects
I thought I’d just put up a few pics of thing we’ve been doing in the yard.
First off this old tractor tyre over a gum tree I’ve cut back complete with flower garden at the bottom, hanging plants, bird bath and bird feeder.
When we built our initial garden baed we initially thought it was about right, then we thought it was way to big, then as we started planting we realised it is way too small.
We’ve built 4 new ad-hoc garden beds that will eventually be replaced with something more permanent but in the mean time we have more growing space.
At the request of Kelly I’ve made a little outdoor shower, sweet and simple, connects easily to the hose and turns on and off at the tap.
Finally, picking up olives from the ground is so plebeian, instead we set up some shade cloth to easily collect olives. Unfortunately we had to take them down after only a short time due to a little cyclone. But we did get some olives to brine in the meantime.
Thriving garden
Just a few pics of us tending our thriving garden.
and lastly; a pic of our exciting first harvest!
Tree felling!!!
Well, once there was a tree that was dropping too many leaves on our garden. So I decided to cut it down
and then Kelly helped me with the cleanup.
Josh's Garden So Far
So I bought a house on a huge block with heaps of potential but the garden in particular has been neglected. For the most part it was just some native scrub, a couple of trees and a whole heap of aloe vera, on the positive side there was a paw paw tree and dragon fruit plant but not much else.
So after a bit of thought I drew up a vague plan to get started.
Now a professional would finalise the plan and then systematically go about executing it.
My method on the other hand is more… organic. When I have spare time I do whatever seems the most interesting to me to do.
So the first thing I did was visit the local tip to see if anything stood out as usable. I was able to get a Buch of colorbond and metal posts which seemed perfect for the garden beds I had in mind. Some drilling, hammering and pop-riveting later I had the start of some awesome raised garden beds.
Then a bit of shovelling and planting later I had some teeny tiny pea and tomato plants growing!!! Aren’t they cute? And I’m sure they’ll grow up into beautiful productive plants(I’ve read that children need a supportive and caring environment to flourish, I assume that plants are exactly like humans)
Some plants I’m less supportive of is the great, big, leaf and limb dropping, ground water and nutrient sucking eucalypts in the back corner. Again, a sensible person would have waited until a chainsaw arrived, I thought an axe attack was appropriate…
The most recent small project was to build a new set of stairs, the only existing ones being next to the shed. Not too shabby for the first substantial woodorking project I’ve done in a decade…
Stay posted for more!!!
